Due to a recent spate of requests the conference programme chairs, and the general chairs have decided to allow authors to submit revisions to their papers past the original deadline of 18th November.

However, we ask you to submit a draft paper by the 18th of November. Draft papers submitted by that date can be revised (which means that new versions of already submitted papers can be uploaded) untill the 2nd of December, at which time paper allocation will be complete and reviewing will commence.

To confirm your paper will be considered for review take the following steps.

1. Upload a draft of your paper to the “Paper” track of the LaTiCE 2014 EasyChair site.
2. Upload a final ANONYMISED version for review by the 2nd of December 2013

Acceptance and rejection notifications will be mailed 18th December.

Guidelines for papers, posters and demos

Deadline for full paper submission for final review is: 18th November 2013.

The following kinds of submissions are accepted:

• Research papers (maximum paper length of 8 pages) present original, unpublished work relevant to the conference themes. Papers may be theoretical or based on empirical investigations. Papers are evaluated with respect to their theoretical sophistication and the quality and relevance of the research.
• Practice sharing papers (4-6 pages) and Work in progress papers (4 pages) present original, unpublished work with a focus on innovative and valued practices within specific institutions. They can present preliminary results or raise issues of significance to the discipline. Practice sharing papers are mainly evaluated in terms of the scope of the evaluation of the innovation. All papers are evaluated by the potential relevance to other institutions and to their perceived impact on the community.
• Poster/demo (2 pages abstract) should present innovative ideas for work in the early stages related to research, teaching practice, or tools. Demonstration of tools should stress the methodology and can include some hands-on work for participants.

Manuscripts

All manuscripts should follow the IEEE formatting guidelines and adhere to the page limits for the appropriate submission category.

• 1. Your review version should be anonymised for double blind review.
• 2. Ensure that you have allowed space for the IEEE copyright block.
• 3. Columns should be balanced on the final page of the manuscript.

Reviewing

Each paper will be reviewed by three members of the programme committee who will evaluate the extent to which the paper

• demonstrates awareness of relevant prior work,
• exemplifies good scholarship,
• makes a contribution to the field,
• and is well written.

Submissions

At least one author per paper must register and pay the conference fee in advance for the paper to be presented. No shows would result in the paper being withdrawn and not being included for upload to the IEEE Xplore digital library.

Call for Proposals

In conjunction with the conference, a doctoral consortium will be organized as a pre-conference workshop on April 9th, 2014. The doctoral Consortium will be held in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Skudai, Johor Malaysia. The aims of the workshop are:

• To offer a friendly forum for doctoral students to discuss issues related to their research in computing and engineering education / educational technology;
• To receive constructive feedback from their peers and senior researchers;
• To support networking with other researchers in the computing and engineering education research field;
• To discuss the process of research and life in academia;
• To provide seminars on different issues related to completing doctoral studies.

Participants

The consortium is designed primarily for students who are currently enrolled in any stage of doctoral studies with a focus on computing and engineering education research or educational technology. Students, who are considering doctoral studies and who have identified a field of research, may apply as well.
